I’m a big fan of shopping at Puzzledly. When I saw this snarky, 500-piece puzzle, “People Suck,” with a damaged box on sale for $8, I couldn’t resist. I’d never heard of the brand Fun Club, so that made this purchase seem even better.

It wasn’t.

Cut: The puzzle is a ribbon cut with standard-size, two-and-two 🧩 shape pieces.

Packaging: The biggest problem with this puzzle, by far, was the packaging. The box lid and the back of the box both display the same full picture. Unfortunately, the box art was significantly different from the actual puzzle art, apparently unintentionally. Parts matched and other parts didn’t. The side-by-side pictures below show the box lid (left) and finished puzzle (right).

The main body of the puzzle art was compressed for the actual puzzle, and additional gold embellishments were added above, below, and throughout the main body. I had the misfortune to start with the white text at the top, which I expected to connect directly to the gold letters. I had to convince myself that this wasn’t a false fit issue; the image itself had to be different. And because the differences were mostly in little gold lines on a pink background…it was a big headache. Some parts of the background had red speckles, so I focused on those first.

Play: There were no issues with the fit of the pieces or with glare. The colors matched those from the box lid and poster.

Closing thoughts: I thought that this puzzle would be a quick one, but the box discrepancies made it a slog. I still enjoyed assembling much of it, and figuring out how to put all the pink ones in place without a reliable image ended up being a fun challenge. But this would have been a speed puzzling disaster (at least for me). I’m putting a copy of the actual image in the box (with a note) and swapping it.
